However, Mojang says users who have a device eligible for Windows 10 Mobile will get a free upgrade to the Windows 10 version of Minecraft for free. If you are unsure on your versions, this is good news. Mostly because the Windows 10 game offers numerous added features and content over the Windows Phone variant. For example, the game adds Realms and Achievements to the experience....

Mojang and the clothes company are evolving their collaboration to bring Minecraft x UNIQLO Skins Vol 2. According to a blog post, the new skins will be available from March 12 in China and March 15 globally. The idea here is players can dress their Minecraft characters in UNIQLO clothes: “Wear your favorite Uniqlo x Minecraft apparel as you mine, craft, explore, or virtually hang out with friends. There are 15 skins in this free pack, so you can avoid the so-called faux pas of wearing the same outfit as someone else in your group....

Following the series’ tendency to replace letters, it’ll be called ‘Krossplay’ and will put players from both consoles in the same Online Kasual matchmaking pool. This could increase the longevity of the game’s multiplayer, ensuring that there will be a larger pool of players to draw from when it loses popularity. It also means players on either console will be able to join their friend’s room. Developers have traditionally struggled to implement crossplay between the consoles, with Sony shutting down both Microsoft’s Minecraft and Rocket League creator Psyonix in the past....

The first pre-release builds for the Firefox web browser are now landing on ARM64 architecture for Windows. As you may know, this is Mozilla’s “nightly” version of the browser that is a preview build to test new features. As such Mozilla says there may be some basic functionality issues. This may be more the case as the company is testing the bowser on new architecture, so Mozilla is warning users may face more than the normal amount of hiccups....

Microsoft, not so much. The bug involves exploiting WAV audio in the browser to reveal personal data such as emails, Facebook feed, and more. It requires the use of a malicious site but is scary and powerful. A less severe version of the bug was found in one of Firefox’s beta builds, and Archibald says the team fixed it in three hours. They communicated to find a good mitigation, and the vulnerability didn’t make its way to a full version....

It is easy to argue this is inevitable considering the increasing diverse streaming market. Viewers have a massive choice and simply cannot afford to pay for all services. As individual studios/companies launch their own streaming services, the catch-all model of Netflix was bound to take a hit. Inevitable maybe, but still a huge problem for the company. For all of its huge success, Netflix does not make huge profits. A downturn in subscribers will hardly appease investors while also cause concerns that this is start of a downward trend....

Research company AppRiver discovered the phishing campaign this month. The whole process relies on creating a convincing email that looks like one Spotify would send. These emails try to fool unwitting users into clicking a link that will lead them to a website that is also designed to deceive by looking like Spotify. Once the user enters the username and password, they will have given the bad actors their credentials....

Microsoft says Project Brainwave will be fully showcased at Hot Chips 2017. We have previously discussed this project and its ability to deliver real-time AI. By leveraging artificial intelligence in this way, systems can process requests as they are received. The company says Brainwave was built on the following three layers: A high-performance, distributed system architecture; A hardware DNN engine synthesized onto FPGAs; and A compiler and runtime for low-friction deployment of trained models....

Apple and Qualcomm have been locked in a legal battle over the issue, and the new request will expand the situation. Qualcomm says it wants the ITC to stop Apple selling devices with the infringing processors. The company says Apple leverages the Intel silicon and abuses six of its patents that help preserve battery life. SEC Consult Vulnerability Lab uncovered the vulnerability and Microsoft has since coded it as CVE-2018-8546. Users of Skype on Windows, Linux, Mac, and the web can now change their video call background with custom images. Previously, backgrounds could only be changed from a set of available templates, such as blur. The custom background feature is landing in Skype version 8.59. While this tool is available for Skype on Windows 10, it won’t work for the app that’s available in the Microsoft Store. Instead, you need to download the desktop program from the internet....
