Last week, Intel issued a fix for its newer Skylake, Kaby Lakes, and Coffee Lakes chips. The company is now following up with a release for older Broadwell and Haswell series CPUs. With this patch, all chips should now be protected against Meltdown and Spectre. When the CPU Kernel level flaw was disclosed by Google on Jan. 6, Intel acted quickly with a patch. However, one of the three Meltdown and Spectre variant patches resulted in problems for users....

Cable says he disclosed it to Microsoft-owned LinkedIn on April 9, and it issued a fix the next day. However, he holds that the patch failed to completely mitigate the issue. Though LinkedIn restricted the use of AutoFill to whitelisted sites, malicious sites could use an iframe and utilize cross-site scripting vulnerabilites. Well, Meta is adding an option that will be able to save your blushes. The company’s WhatsApp chief, Will Cathcart, says that there is now an undo option for “Delete for Me” when someone accidentally chooses it. As it suggests, the option will allow users to revert back to their option and undo the delete. Then they can either choose “Delete for Everyone” or just leave the message. Of course, the “Delete for Me” option will be available again....

In other words, these devices are at risk of local or remote attacks. Microsoft Security says the apps have millions of downloads as well as being pre-installed. Like all inbox apps, the vulnerable applications have more privileges than normal, allowing attackers to potentially reach system configuration. Project xCloud has been in preview since last year but Microsoft wants to move to the next stage, including giving the platform its full launch name. With xCloud, Microsoft is extending the availability of Xbox games across platforms. By leveraging Azure cloud, the company will allow users to play Xbox titles on mobile devices. There is direct integration with Xbox, with gamers able to start a game on console and resume it on a smartphone or tablet....

The cyberattacks, which spanned three continents, include anti-doping organizations. They followed reports that Russia could be banned from all major sports after “inconsistencies” were found. Microsoft says the attacks follow Stronium’s usual M.O., with a combination of spear-phishing, password spray, and IoT hacks. They involved the group’s custom malware, with some successful attempts. Not the First Time This isn’t the first time Strontium has targetted anti-doping. Previous reports suggest it released emails and medical records of officials acquired between 2016 and 2018....

Kano’s previous PCs, the $280 touchscreen Computer Kit Touch, and its most basic $150 Computer Kit sibling, run the company’s proprietary Kano OS. However, for the new Kano PC, Microsoft’s Windows 10 will be the platform. Specifically, the device provides the Windows 10 Education edition. There are some differences to this SKU compared to Win10 Home, such as only apps from the Windows Store will run. So far, Windows 10 19H1 previews have been limited in terms of features. This is something that we have seen before.
