The company has developed its Neural Processing Engine, a software development kit (SDK) that allows AI to run on existing Snapdragon processors. Qualcomm is the leading mobile chipmaker with 40 percent of the market. If the company can develop a way to deliver AI to existing processors, it would be a major breakthrough. Essentially, it would allow users of current devices to make the most of AI developments. Specifically, Neural Processing Engine is for all Snapdragon 800 and 600 series silicon....

Unfortunately, there was no introduction for an update to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, which powers the latest Windows on ARM devices. However, Qualcomm says the next ARM processor it builds will build on its Nuvia acquisition. This processor will be known as Oryon. That is the same name Qualcomm uses for its ARM PC chips, so we guess a different number system will be used to differentiate them. One of the most interesting aspects of all this is the complications of the relationship between Qualcomm and Arm in relation to Nuvia....

AWS held a sizeable 62 percent market share during the three months that closed last year. That represents a six percent slip from 68 percent in 2016. That six percent AWS slide went to rivals, with Microsoft taking the lion’s share. Azure scored a 20 percent share of the cloud market in Q4 2017, up from 16 percent year-on-year. First up, Microsoft is changing the name of Rust/WinRT to “Rust for Windows”. That’s a wise move as it is more appealing, clear, and says exactly what it is. Incognito mode has been available in the keyboard as early as 2016 but it hasn’t seen all that much use. Having to manually toggle the feature is a major inconvenience and not intuitive. With the new system, users shouldn’t have to micro-manage quite as much. In fact, our testing reveals that the automatic incognito mode goes further than the changelog suggests. There have long been rumors that Twitter would include an Edit button. It now seems likely to happen soon as the company posted the first ever edited tweet on the TwitterBlue official channel. There is a timestamp on the tweet that shows when it was last edited. In terms of content, the tweet simply says it is for testing purposes. The tool will allow users to edit typos, errors, or any other parts of their tweets....

Unnamed sources say that though the DoD has its own satellites and network, traffic at some bases still travels through commercial providers. If one of these providers has compromised Chinese technology it would prove a huge security risk. The warnings come a month after motherboards from San Jose’s Supermicro were found to have tiny, compromised microchips. Planted by a Chinese subcontractor, the running theory is that the Chinese government was involved in some way....

If you are unfamiliar with WhatsApp Beta, it is a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app that is available for desktop. It is different to the full WhatsApp Desktop because it is a WinUI app written in XAML. It has recently been updated to get the Windows 11 aesthetic. In the latest update for the app, users can now filter their chats. Among the filters available in the app are contacts, non-contacts, show messages from unread chats, and groups....

First up, WhatsApp is increasing the number of people who can enter a video call to 32. Groups on the app can now host up to 1,024 members, while it is now possible to create in-chat polls. Leading the pack is a new WhatsApp feature known as Communities. Well, it is new in as much as it is leaving preview – where it has been since April – and becoming widely available....

Known as “Message Yourself,” the new feature allows you to send notes, lists, and reminders to yourself directly on WhatsApp. The Meta-owned company announced the new feature this week, saying it will come to all Android and iOS users this month. Beta testers have already been using the tool. This seems to be a gradual rollout that WhatsApp says is already underway. That means you may see the new feature now but may also need to wait a few weeks....
