Swatting is when someone falsely reports a violent incident to the police at a target address. The police respond in force to scare and embarrass the victim. James Andrew McCarty (Aspertaine) and Kya Christian Nelson (Chumlul) would use the hacked Ring devices to live stream the footage of the police raiding the target homes. In an unsealed indictment released this week, the two were charged with swatting over a dozen victims in one week during November 2020: “The defendants then allegedly accessed without authorization the victims’ Ring devices and transmitted the audio and video from those devices on social media during the police response,” explains a statement from Martin Estrada, the U....

A Russian employee shared information on a blog suggesting ATMs operated by Sberbank have inherent security holes in their systems. Sberbank is a state owned bank and its ATM’s are mostly still running Windows XP. The vulnerabilities could allow hackers to easily access the ATMs. In his post, the employee claims the ATM interface can be bypassed simply by pressing Shift 5 times. This opens Sticky Keys, which allow hackers to access the whole ATM Windows XP operating system....

To showcase the technology, Samsung has published the photo as a giant print poster. While the company does not discuss it, I presume no compression has been used and this is the image as it was taken. Deutsche Post AG’s DHL Supply Chain is a major transportation, distribution and warehousing company for retailers and manufacturers. The company has pre-ordered 10 Tesla electric trucks for its U.S. operations. In a confirmation, DHL says the company’s will aid its facilities in major cities: “The trucks will be used for shuttle runs and same-day customer deliveries, and will be tested for fuel efficiency on longer runs from major markets to other DHL operations across the country,” the company said....
