According to the Microsoft Edge GitHub, the company is looking to bring Caret browsing to Chromium. It wants users to be able to navigate and select using the keyboard only without needing to install extensions. “The solution proposed in this explainer is to introduce native caret browsing in Chromium, a feature that is available in Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer,” reads the GitHub commit. “In order to do that we suggest to implement a current common activation shortcut: F7 and confirm caret browsing activation with a dialog....

Since launching on Windows 10, Steam, Xbox One, and PS4 (Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions launch in 2021), Cyberpunk 2077 has been hit by an array of bugs. While scoring praise for its design, story, visuals, and gameplay, the title has been slammed by players and critics for massive performance issues. 1 Patch Problems2 October 2019 Patch Tuesday Certainly, compared to Patch Tuesday rollouts over the last year, October 2019 is small. Over previous events, Microsoft has patched between 80 and 100 vulnerabilities each month, alongside active zero-day vulnerabilities. For October 2019 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft says there were no zero-days. Additionally, the number of normal patches was also reduced, with only 59 bugs handled. Of those bugs, only nine were deemed “critical” by Microsoft’s vulnerability threat rating....

Now another sale is coming to the Surface line, this time the Intel Core i5/8GB RAM model. The change knocks the price down to $999 rather than the previous $1200. The deal is only running in the U.S., and expires on March 27, 2017. The i5 model marks a great middle ground for customers, offering a 4GB increase in memory over the $799 model, as well as 128GB of SSD space....

Microsoft sent out the Creators Update to the Xbox One last month. PC users who wanted to clean install the OS themselves have been able to do so since last week. However, most Windows 10 users will be getting their update automatically. Today is the first time that can happen. As with the Anniversary Update last August, Microsoft is rolling out the Creators Update in stages. This basically means the upgrade will be sent out over the next weeks to three months....

The Senior Program Manager will be tasked with helping to “drive the communication experiences to mobile devices, improve the user experience, meet enterprise and operator requirements,” and “work with partners across the company including the hardware team to define the strategy, define the deliver the communication experience.” As for the Program Manager II position, Microsoft wants somebody to contribute “to a wide range of Mobile platform features, from device management, updatability, security features and drivers to managing quality flights and customer communication....

Specifically, the threat group has added a new Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro to the toolkit. This allows bad actors to enter Microsoft Outlook accounts through spear-phishing campaigns set to user contacts. Of course, a spear phishing campaign conducted through email is hardly anything new. However, security teams say this method of compromising an inbox is the first public example of an attack that combines Outlook macro with OTM....

The weaknesses are present in Office 365 Secure Score, Microsoft Portfolios, and Microsoft Service Trust apps. The issue exists because these services inadvertently trusted some third-party domains and sub-domains in the OAuth 2.0 flow. “If an attacker gains control of the domains and URLs Microsoft trusts, Microsoft’s published applications makes it possible for the attacker to lead victims to automatically generate access tokens with their permissions,” explains CyberArk’s Omer Tsarfarti....

Information in the patent points to new AI tools coming to Outlook. Although, as always we point out that patents are not guarantee that a solution will be fully developed and released. That said, considering Microsoft’s rapid adoption of AI across services, we are hopeful Outlook will gain more intelligence. One of the new AI features for the client will allow an automated scan through appointments to recommend a time and date for a new meeting....

“We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,” says Microsoft on its support site for Windows Update. The fact is, many presumed the Windows 10 October 2018 Update would launch at the Surface event but would be rolled out a week later. It was only during the last month of September that Microsoft released the RTM build 17763 on preview....

In February, Microsoft announced it would SHA-2 standalone updates for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 in August. In other words, Symantec had plenty of time to get its software ready to handle SHA-2 signed updates. However, the company’s antivirus software cannot manage SHA-2 signatures. Microsoft has reacted by halting updates on some hardware. The company updated a note for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, pointing out the problems....

In a recent video, Microsoft is highlighting some of the new technology it developed for the Surface Duo. Many of the new tools are already known about but it seems Microsoft wants to remind users of what the Duo can do. As noted, early reviews say the device is interesting but much of the software tricks are clearly still in development. However, it is clear the Duo has the potential to become a powerhouse device....

These are an expansive set of updates covering Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint in Office for Mac. Leading the way across all of the applications is the introductions of a Dark Mode. Now the core Office applications can be chosen in a dark hue. Bring on Light Mode we say. This latest update brings Office for Mac up to version 16.20.0 (Build 18120801). Alongside the aesthetic change, Microsoft has also integrated Apple’s Continuity Camera into Office....

In fact, this update is even available for the very first Windows 10 build, that was released back in July 2015. As you may know, Microsoft supports Windows 10 builds for 2 years but then expects users to upgrade to newer versions. Windows 10 will soon move to version 2004 (20H1) which will launch in May. This update is still on the Inside so has not received this Intel microcode update....

A bubble of rejuvenation that has surrounded Microsoft under CEO Satya Nadella shows zero signs of bursting. Thanks to another landmark quarter, the company’s stock soared to over $130 per share, a record amount. Cloud continued to drive Microsoft’s growth, but all areas performed well, including a boost for Windows....

One of the things users seem to have to give up in order to store on OneDrive is their privacy. This is mostly a problematic thing, but in one case Microsoft’s snooping has yielded some positive results as a company found a pedophile who has since been charged. Of course, under Microsoft’s terms and conditions for using OneDrive, there are certain restrictions on what content you can store. When you sign up for the service, it is also an agreement that the company can check your content to see if it complies....

SurfaceConstellations provides a modular system through a connected hardware platform. At its core, the system allows multiple devices to be linked to efficiently create new cross-device workspaces. Many professionals will be used to working in a multi-monitor environment, but Microsoft’s platform goes beyond a multi-screen experience. By creating a multi-surface experience, the platform can provide more flexibility. For example, it hosts a huge library of 3D-printed link modules highlighting some setup designs and strategies....

The change was introduced with Skype version 8.61 across platforms. This update also adds a couple of new features, including the 3×3 grid for 9 participants during a video call. Furthermore, users can now share files directly from File Explorer. Elsewhere, other new tools have been added. For example, moderated chats are now available, while users can also change their background. However, the biggest change is what’s happening under the hood of Skype....

If you are unfamiliar with Movies Anywhere, it is a Disney owned streaming service. With that in mind, it is obvious the Microsoft Store would highlight Disney movies compatible with the platform. However, Disney changed the service two years ago to allow streaming of content from other studios. That means the Microsoft Store is also highlighting content from Twentieth Century Fox, Universal, Sony, and Warner Bros. Finding if a movie is eligible is as easy as looking for the Movies Anywhere logo on a Microsoft Store listing....
