Revenue increased once again for Microsoft, jumping 11 percent compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2022. However, new income took a hit, decreasing by 14 percent year-on-year. For Azure customers, the standard running environment is SAP Hana database service. So, we known a 12 terabyte VM is arriving soon, but Microsoft also announced a 192 GB machines....

Azure Synapse Analytics is an analytics service that manages data for business applications. It was launched at Ignite last year and the Studio element of the service came later and also in preview. Microsoft says now both Azure Synapse Analytics and Synapse Studio are reaching GA. This announcement came yesterday following an online event hosted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Testing of Dolby Vision has been ongoing since July and the standard is now widely available on Xbox One. Until now, the standard has been built directly into devices with screens, such as a TV. This represents the first implementation tailored specifically for gaming machines. As a result, Microsoft says Xbox users will get improved contrasts and 40 times more brightness. Also, blacks are 10 times darker than they would be before: “This leverages the power of Xbox to process and render Dolby Vision content, before sending over to the TV....

If you are unfamiliar with City Art Search, it is a service that allows users to search fine art through several methods. Searches can be conducted looking for artists, century of the work, and the artistic era. Microsoft wants users to use the app to find museums and galleries to visit to see the art. Users can search by city or gallery and find which works are hosted in those locations....

Microsoft’s fix was causing issues because it would not install, showing the error code “0x800f0922”. At the time, Microsoft was telling users to update UEFI to work around the issue. That did not really work as a couple of weeks later there was another issue in the same KB5012170 package. Users were noticing the update was forcing BitLocker into recovery mode. Again, Microsoft offered a workaround but the problem is still listed on the Windows Health Dashboard....

With the settings enabled, Edge will check downloads against a list of Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs), which include toolbars and adware. With Quiet Notification Requests, Microsoft Edge automatically disables notification requests. Websites still send these requests, but Edge essentially mutes them. Grammarly is a widely used grammar and content checker that is actively promoted amongst websites to their staff. If Microsoft’s Editor alternative proves to be as accurate or robust as Grammarly, it could have several advantages. Firstly, it is baked into Word so requires no additional downloads. A lot has happened in the last week surrounding the so-called JEDI program. The cloud defense platform is worth $10 billion to the winning company. Google decided to pull out of the bidding process early last week.
