In a Tweet, the executive compares a Rocket Lake-S Core i9-11900K favorably against AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X, a 16-core chip. It is worth noting this was an internal test, so we expect nothing less than Intel touting its chipset. According to the company, the comparison showed the Rocket Lake flagship is 11% faster than AMD’s flagship rival. The test and results were performed on PCMark 10’s Quick System Drive Benchmark....

According to Intel, AMS offloads memory scanning from Intel CPUs to its integrated graphics chips. This should result in less resource hogging when performing other tasks, and more frequent malware scanning in the same power envelope. The idea is to help detect malware that avoids traditional file-based techniques in a bit to bypass virus scans. Though anti-malware software can scan system memory, it comes at significant performance cost, which discourages regular scans....

Thanks to the release, Gmail users won’t need an expensive Sales Navigator subscription to get its benefits. The decision comes after a similar extension, Rapportive, stopped working. The app was previously independent but was acquired by LinkedIn in 2012. Clipchamp came under Microsoft’s wing following an acquisition in 2021. The company quickly folded the video editing service into Microsoft 365. Clipchamp provides editing tools such as filters, styles, templates and more all available online. Thanks to features like stock media, styles, transitions, and a timeline, it does retain some pro-grade abilities. Back in March, Microsoft said Clipchamp would become the default video editing tool on Windows 11. Windows 10 KB4556799 is the latest cumulative update rolled out by Microsoft. Following a worrying trend in recent times, the patch designed to fix issues is causing all new ones on the platform. As is usually the case, not all Windows 10 users are affected. However, it seems to be a large subset of users who have already installed the update. “I am also having the explorer refresh bug and it gets to the point where anything explorer related (everything) lags really bad or just doesnt respond,” one user wrote in a thread on Reddit....

The XR Association is a trade group that combines the shared interests of companies that develop virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) solutions. Among the associations purposes are the “responsible development and adoption of AR and VR globally with best practices, dialogue across stakeholders, and research” while serving “as a resource for researchers, policymakers, and partners across the XR industry.” Microsoft will be represented in the XR Association by Heidi Holman, the company’s assistant general counsel....

AV1 is a codec that was announced by the Alliance for Open Media (AOM) back in 2017. It is an open and royalty free codec that will replace H.264 as the leading codec for online streaming. Microsoft has been a supporter of AV1 since 2018 when it announced plans to bring the free codec to Windows 10. Microsoft says support for AV1 in Windows 10 1909 and newer will start rolling out later this year....

According to a Microsoft Developer blog post, the Redstone 4 release will be made public in April.
