The Surface Pro LTE was announced back in May during an event in Shanghai. That was the same event where Microsoft officially launched the new Surface Pro. The Wi-Fi model of the device has been available for months, but the company said we would have to wait for the LTE variant. TypeScript is growing in the development community because it gives dev’s easy tools for scaling up projects written in JavaScript. Two problems have been causing compatibility issues between Windows 11 and AMD CPUs. The first Is found in the “preferred core” tech used in Ryzen chips. This feature is supposed to move threads to whatever is the fastest core on the CPU. However, it seems this is malfunctioning on Windows 11 and performance issues could be the result for some users. It is this one that Microsoft is fixing with Window 11 build 22000....
However, it seems as though the Windows Feedback Hub is not always being used in the way it is intended. CataclysmZA took to Reddit to highlight how the hub is being used spam, phishing attempts, and political posts. What the Windows Feedback Hub was never supposed to be was a forum or social network. That some people are seemingly using it that way is bizarre. However, it seems any venue that reaches the masses is fair game these days....
In its announcement, Microsoft said the decision was made after it “collaborated with the MVP community and other influencers”. That decision involved making one final version of an on-premises server for a small business. Once Windows Server 2019 Essentials SKU is no longer available, small businesses can use other solutions. For example, Microsoft 365 is the direction the company is pointing people towards. Let’s start by looking at what a super app is. This is essentially an app that combines all the features and tools a user would want. In many ways, the concept already exists. Facebook is something of a super app as Meta has thrown features at it and it is not a bloated service. I bet I could list 30 Facebook features and there would be at least 5 you have never heard of....
However, Microsoft has yet to reach an agreement with Zupee, so there remains a chance the deal will not happen. There is some concern within Microsoft where some team members think the optics around betting with Zupee games goes against the kinds of products wants to be known for. Neither Zupee nor Microsoft has made a comment on the potential deal. If an investment is made, Microsoft will almost certainly want the platform to use its Azure cloud services to deliver cloud gaming....
Unlike other Microsoft apps, Teams’ dark mode seems to be a good implementation. It’s not OLED but turns everything a dark gray. Messages take on gray or purple color, depending on the sender, and there are still splashes of orange, green, red, and blue in the app. The only caveat is that Teams’ must be restarted to enable the mode, so no quick switching. 1416 also adds the ability to record and send audio messages, which will be useful for those who don’t want to or are unable to type....
Hard Mute and Spotlight will give presentation users, such as educators, the ability to add more focus. Microsoft initially announced both features at Ignite 2020 last month and started rolling them out. Now the company is formally revealing them as available to all users on Windows and other Microsoft Teams platforms. Starting with Hard Mute, it does as its name suggests. Users giving a presentation can now stop attendees from unmuting their microphone during a meeting....
The primary goal of the coalition is to create browsing standards that promote a consistent and reliable web browser experience. In To-Do version 1.49, users on any platform can attach files or photos. This includes Windows, iOS, and Android. A new add file menu is present on tasks, with users able to add as many as they want and see them on other PCs. One limitation, though, is file size. Microsoft doesn’t allow users to attach files that are above 25 MB, which could be an issue. Though most Word documents will be fine, larger Excel documents could be a struggle....
The functionality will come via an SDK for ARM64 that will be made available to developers. The company plans to announce the project at Build 2018, which will run from May 7–9. The SDK will officially enable the functionality for both Store and desktop versions, with developers able to recompile their apps. Of course, the advantage for users is entirely dependent on those developers. They’re under no obligation to recompile their apps, and will likely wait to gauge the popularity of the new devices....
The company informs users about the scheduled launch of a new feature called ‘meet up’, and elaborates on two important profile changes. Thanks to the ‘meet up’ feature users will be able to see when people in their network are nearby and offer to meet up. Microsoft hopes that LinkedIn users will use ‘meet up’ at conferences or public gatherings, in order to meet people they have connected with through the service....
Thanks to the latest update, users are now able to search and find bots across multiple messaging platforms with just one search. For example, if you run a search on Bing for ‘travel bots’, you will be presented with all the travel-related bots for all platforms such as Skype, Slack, and Facebook Messenger. In order to test the improved search experience, you can just head on to Bing and run a search for any kind of bots you want....
For Power BI users on Android and iOS, Microsoft says it has introduced a new tool for choosing multiple data points on a report page. Well, 98161 allows users to copy and paste live Loop components within the Microsoft Whiteboard application from other Microsoft 365 apps. However, users soon noticed that while the Whiteboard theme was great for colorful collaboration, it was a little harsh on the eyes. In October, a request for a Blackboard mode gained popularity on UserVoice, and Microsoft has finally confirmed work on the feature. “More background options, including a dark ‘blackboard’ option, coming soon. Stay tuned!,” said Ian Mitkutel, senior product manager, Microsoft Whiteboard. It seems that users are actually getting more than they asked for....
If you’re unfamiliar with the differences between the devices, the 2S is an update of the original Surface Hub. As for the 2X, it was supposed to be a fully fledged Surface Hub 2, with plenty of new features and a new design. It would also run Microsoft’s modular Windows environment.
