The service lets users pay monthly to access a catalog of EA Games, including Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Star Wars: Battlefront and more. It seems users have been charged for overlapping subscriptions in cases where they already had one. This appears to have affected a number of undisclosed services, with users primarily reporting problems with EA Access. Players have overpaid up to $27, and Microsoft has set up a website to streamline the refund process. A subscription refund page reads: “We identified a number of Microsoft accounts that are due a refund for overlapping subscriptions. This occurred if you purchased a new subscription that overlapped with one you already had.”
Extra Store Credit
Users can simply sign into the website and be told if they incurred extra charges. You can then agree to have the amount returned to your bank or Microsoft account. According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, some users are also receiving $10 Xbox Store credit to make up for the inconvenience. If you’re eligible for a refund, you may receive an email, but it’s worth checking either way. It seems this has happened across numerous services, so users of Xbox Game Pass and more could be affected. It’s still not clear how the problem arose, but the company is at least handling the refund process with grace.
