As you’d expect, it’s the higher-end Surface devices that are getting those heftier discounts. The Surface Laptop 2 gets $100 off its base model, for example, but $300 off any configuration above that. There’s a similar format for the Surface Book 2, save one extra tier. It’s base model is $50 off, the i5 8GB model $200 off, and everything else is $300 off. Meanwhile, Surface Pro 6 fans will note $200 off all i5 model and a $300 discount on ones with i7 processors.
A $349 Entry Point
Naturally, the discounts on the Surface Go are more conservative. With it already a low margin, budget device, the tech giant is unwilling to budge too much on its price. As a result, you’ll only get $50 off any of its models. It means you can enter the Surface family for just $349, which is an exceptional deal. Though the 2-in-1’s 10″ screen isn’t largest, its portability and build quality make it a good option. The base model has 64 GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, which is a little low. For now $500, you can grab a 128/8GB variant, which is much more future proof. Even so, this sale comes with one giant caveat. Microsoft is expected to host its Surface hardware event on October 2. Upgraded models for at least some of these will launch and you’ll be able to pick up their predecessors for cheap second hand. Going by rumors and Microsoft’s previous release schedule, we’re expecting a new Surface Book, possibly with Qualcomm’s 8cx processor. The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are also due an upgrade, but the release timeline for Surface Go devices is yet to be determined. Of course, if you want to pick up one of these devices new, now could be your best chance to do so. Just bear in mind that Black Friday isn’t too far away.
