While the original Minecraft has missed out numerous updates and packs over the years, the World of Color update almost makes up for it. This is an extensive release that adds numerous new features and items to the content of the game. For example, as the name suggests, color is the order of the day. Items such as beds, wool, banners, and shulker boxes are available in a range of colors. Additionally, colored blocks are now available, as well as new blocks like Concrete. Other new additions to the game include a new mob in the form of tameable parrots. Mojang points to one significant difference in the taming process from the preview to release. Namely, parrots in the preview were tamed with cookies, but are now tamed with seeds.
This is actually an amusing change because the company was hit with complaints on Reddit. Why is the obvious question. Originally tamed by cookies that look like chocolate, many pointed out that chocolate is poisonous to birds and were concerned children would take the hint and feed chocolate to real birds. Mojang has also showed some of the colourful creations sent in by Redditors. The company asked Minecraft users to build from the preview and send their creations. Those buildings can be seen in the World of Color update trailer (above).
