According to WinFuture, Microsoft will launch a new Surface Pro 9 and a Surface Laptop 5. Neither of these is a major surprise, especially the Pro 9 which I have already discussed on this page. In fact, just this week the FCC cleared a Microsoft device that seems to be the Surface Pro 9 5G. Both the Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 will receive 12th Gen Intel CPUs, bumping from the 11th Gen CPUs in last year’s models. There will be two Intel variants, one with Intel Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U processors. The report points to a single-core performance boost of 22 percent for the i5 and 12 percent for the i7. Both the Pro 9 and Laptop 5 will configure up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. As I reported a couple of weeks back, Microsoft is also widely believed to be working on an ARM variant of the Surface Pro 9. Microsoft plans to combine the Surface Pro X with the regular Surface Pro range. This means there will likely be a variant of the Surface Pro 9 with an ARM processor.
ARM Options
Microsoft will power the ARM configuration with its own Microsoft SQ3 chipset, a custom version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 SoC. So far, there are no signs the company will launch an ARM variant of the Surface Laptop 5. It could still happen though considering the Surface Laptop 4 does have an ARM option. Surface Pro 9 will start from around $1300, a $100 price increase from the Pro 8. It will be available in Forest (green), Sapphire (blue), silver, and black. It is worth noting all the info above remains firmly in rumour territory. Tip of the day: The Windows Clipboard history feature provides the functionality across device, space, and time, letting you copy on one computer and paste the text days later on a different PC. All of it is possible via the Windows 10 clipboard manager, which lets you view, delete, pin, and clear clipboard history at will. In our tutorial we show you how to enable the feature, clear clipboard history, and enable/disable clipboard sync to meet your preferences. You can also create a clear clipboard shortcut for quick removal of stored content.
