If you are unfamiliar with Windows 10 on ARM, it offers the best of PC computing with mobile. On Always Connected PCs, that means huge battery life and portability. On a mobile device, Windows 10 for ARM would allow a smartphone to run a full PC platform. Developers have now added a new feature to ARM on Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices. Gustave Monce who is one of the lead developers took to Twitter to confirm GPS is no functional on the handsets. It is worth remembering Microsoft no longer supports the Lumia handsets. Two years ago, the company decided to stop all feature updates for Windows 10 Mobile. In January, the company said Windows 10 Mobile will kill off the platform this December. That means even security updates will stop.

Still Not Stable
If a stable Windows 10 for ARM third-party version could be created, it would be a way for users to reignite their Lumia devices. We are certainly close to that with increasing feature releases. The developers have recently made it easier to install the platform on Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones. However, one dealbreaking stumbling block is the lack of cellular activity on the OS. That means this is very much just a test and cannot be viably adopted by users just yet. Still, if you have an old 950 device lying around, fire it up and check out the Installer at GitHub.
