Ray “Stallion83” Cox has been atop the Xbox Gamerscore list for 11 years. For achievement hunters, he is what they aspire to be. Over the years, Cox became the first to pass all major Xbox Gamerscore milestones. For example, he was the first to surpass the one million mark. After over a decade at the top, Cox has now been knocked down to second place. Over the last weekend, Stephen “smrnov” Rowe claimed first position. Rowe has been chasing Cox for years, so we guess today is celebratory one for him. As for Cox, he lost his position due to getting married and being away on honeymoon. To highlight how time-consuming achievement hunting is, even a couple of days off can have catastrophic results. As it stands, Cox has a score of 1,585,854, while Rowe’s Gamerscore is 1,591,840. So, a couple of days off cost Cox thousands in points. His latest points were for Knee Deep today, while Rowe also extended his score today, with the latest achievement for The Escapists. All data is based on the time of writing. There is a moral to this story. Don’t get married, or don’t take in-game achievements so seriously. We’ll let you decide which.

Canadian gamer smrnov secured first position on Saturday, which was Canada Day in his country. Clearly, he had no time to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation as he was busy bringing down Stallion83.

I think it surprised most of you and myself really as it was never my goal to overtake Stallion83. Since being #1 in TA for a while now (maybe 1 year?) I was sitting on a bunch of easy games while inching closer in gamerscore. Couple that with a 5-day long weekend with no distractions it was as good a time as ever to try.” As for Cox, the tweet above explains why he let his lead slip.
